Propane and heating oil routes are busiest in the coldest weeks. Service trucks, pumps, and reels in fall, use the cold-start viscosity the engine maker permits, and keep spare filters on hand.
Hazardous materials rules come first
Bulk plant and cargo tank equipment is governed by hazmat and fire-code requirements and by the equipment maker’s instructions. Follow those for any lubricant that contacts pumps, valves, or meters in product service.
Products by equipment.
Confirm the lubricant type, grade, and specifications in each equipment manual before ordering.
Bobtails and transports
Delivery trucks run winter routes on rural roads; match each engine’s oil category and each transmission and axle specification.
Truck pumps, PTOs, and hose reels have bearings and gear drives with the maker’s lubricant. Follow the pump maker’s guidance for the product being pumped.
