Fleets with mixed engine makes and model years often need more than one oil. Build a table of each unit’s engine, required category and approval, and drain interval, then consolidate only where the requirements actually match.
Set intervals with data
Follow the engine maker’s schedule and the oil’s published limits. Used-oil analysis on a sample of units helps confirm whether the current interval suits your duty cycle, idle time, and climate.
Products by equipment.
Confirm the lubricant type, grade, and specifications in each equipment manual before ordering.
Diesel engine oil
Match the API category, viscosity, and any engine-maker approval listed for each engine. CK-4 and FA-4 are separate categories; use FA-4 only where the engine maker permits it.

Frequently asked questions
Can one diesel oil cover the whole fleet?
Only if every engine’s required category, viscosity, and approvals are met by that oil. Mixed fleets often need two products.
Can AMSOIL extend drain intervals for my trucks?
Stay within the engine maker’s requirements and the oil’s published limits, and verify any change with oil analysis.
