Inspect and dress hoist ropes with the lubricant the rope or machine maker specifies. A1’s catalog does not list a wire rope lubricant, and general grease is not a substitute.
Offset loads
Pipelayers work on slopes with loads hung off one side; check final drive levels on both sides and look for seal weeping.
Fluids by compartment.
Confirm the fluid type, grade, and specifications in the pipelayer (sideboom) maker’s manual before ordering. These examples are not a fitment result for a specific machine.
Hoist and boom winches
Winch cases and brakes have their own oil, sometimes a powershift-type fluid where wet brakes share the case; match the maker’s chart.
