Most skidding winches use dry friction clutches and band brakes. Oil or grease on them causes slipping, so wipe spills right away.
A1’s catalog does not list a wire rope lubricant. Follow the cable maker’s guidance and replace kinked or frayed cable.
Confirm the fluid type, grade, and specifications in the tractor forestry winch maker’s manual before ordering. These examples are not a fitment result for a specific machine.
Gearbox and chain-case winches list a gear oil and level; open chains need chain lube.
