Do not grease synthetic rope; rinse it with water and inspect it for abrasion. Steel cable care follows the cable maker, and A1’s catalog does not list a wire rope lubricant.
Water in the motor
A winch that sat submerged can rust inside; follow the maker’s guidance for draining and drying it.
Fluids by compartment.
Confirm the fluid type, grade, and specifications in the atv and truck winch maker’s manual before ordering. These examples are not a fitment result for a specific machine.
Planetary gear train
Most winch gear trains are greased at assembly; when serviced, regrease only with the type the winch maker lists.
